Custom images

Use a custom image if you want to use an operating system image that is not available in our public catalog.

Gozunga Cloud ships a public catalog of operating systems (Ubuntu, Rocky Linux, Windows Server, and the rest). That is the right start for a new virtual machine. Cloud → Images is for everything else: a golden image you built, a disk you brought from another cloud, or a snapshot of a server you already configured. Those images are per project. They appear under My Images, and you pick them when you create or reinstall a server.

When you need this

• You installed packages, agents, or a hardened baseline on a server and want to launch more copies of that same disk.
• You are moving a workload onto Gozunga and already have a bootable disk image.
• You took a server snapshot and want to boot it as a new instance, or Reinstall the original server from it.

My Images and Public Images

Open Cloud → Images. Two tabs:

• My Images is this project's images. Upload, snapshots, and anything you imported land here. An empty project says No Rows To Show.
• Public Images is the Gozunga catalog. That is the same list as the Operating Systems picker on the create-server form.

The table columns are Name, Status, Size, Type, Created At, and Region. Wait until status is active before you launch from it.

Upload an image

Click Upload Image, give it a name you will recognize on the create-server form, and upload the disk file. Once it is active, it is selectable under My Images when you create a server, and under Reinstall on an existing server.

A custom image logs in with whatever admin user it was built with, not necessarily ubuntu. See Default Usernames for Cloud Instances for the public catalog. For an image you built, use the user you configured.

Snapshots become images

A server snapshot is stored as an image. On the server Snapshots tab the empty state already says There are no images. After you snapshot, look here under My Images, then launch or Reinstall from it. That walkthrough is Snapshots and backups.
